malia thompson began m/t studio in the 11th grade. she set up a worktable in her bedroom and
started painting punk rock band graphics on t-shirts for her friends among other things. her mom
did buy her a sewing machine that year, but that's a different story.

as an art major in college, malia was president of the student art league for two years. she also
worked in the theater department writing publicity, creating posters and programs, and painting
the outdoor billboard for each performance.
